Let Me In

Let Me In
I never meant to start a war
I just want you to love me more
I want to be there for you
But you hide from me the truth
I try so hard to be patient
But I keep hitting the pavement
I wipe away the tears
and try to hide my fears.
We can see it in one another's eyes,
We try to hide it away
But there are some things in life we can't disguise.
I know I it seems that all I do is call you out
But I don't see this is as a falling out.
I know you would never lie to me
Because you tell me you love me
I have learned that in love, I have to be willing to get hurt.
So, I have opened myself up to pain
But you do not see how having you, I have gained.
I don't want you to walk away
I want you stay
I have noticed the way you have changed
It makes things very strange,
but I know you're not a stranger to me-
although you may danger since
I feel because of you I always cry,
But then I realize I am the reason why.
I admit, I mess up.
But that doesn't mean I am going to give up.
I will fight,
day and night,
to break down the walls,
and in the end, together we will stand tall.
I don't want to break your heart,
Give your heart a break,
There's only so much you can take
Please just let me in,
if you do, we can win.
I know I sometimes get under your skin.
Please just let me in,
I let you in.
I keep knocking on the door,
I never meant to start a war
I just want you to love me more.

and a few by Demi Lovato's Give Your Heart a Break

  1. Aishah, this poem really gets across the state of mind and sincerity of the person speaking. These lines struck me:
    " I will fight,
    day and night,
    to break down the walls,
and in the end, together we will stand tall."

    Thank you.
